ifPeople engages microenterprises in South America's Southern Cone as longterm partner in our team. FairSource is guided by
a standard for trade in services based on principles of fair trade, access to
opportunity, and sustainability. ifPeople's business model provides fair trade software
for businesses, non-profits and other values-driven enterprises - an
ethical outsourcing alternative that
supports responsible entrepreneurship in Latin America.

History of FairSource
FairSource is a network of partnerships between ifPeople, a US-based
consulting and software development company, and different
microenterprises in the Southern Cone. ifPeople generates projects with
clients in the US and Europe, which are then implemented with the
partners using Free Software solutions. ifPeople began utilizing this
model in January 2004 and continutes to develop and expand it
actively. Building a FairSource partnership with IT firms is an
extensive process, designed to ensure the selection of appropriate
partners and to allow partners adequate time to comply with FairSource
standards. The work performed by FairSource providers currently focuses
on Free Software applications for Web site management, enterprise
content management, GIS mapping, and custom Web-based applications

Results
ifPeople's partners have experienced significant growth and
development since beginning work with ifPeople. The results for
the partner firms is that they have hired new staff, created regular
pay schedules, taken out office leases, invested in training and
infrastructure, and improved professionalism and business management.
ifPeople seeks to expand its program through increasing the number of
businesses involved and the regions reached through expanding its
