December 2-3, eighteen people engaged in an advanced training in Zope and Plone sponsored by ifPeople in Argentina. Zope and Plone, enterprise-quality web software applications, have emerging communities in the Southern Cone. This was ifPeople's second training this year as part of the FairSource program to strengthen responsible microenterprises in Latin America that provide quality, valuable information technology services.

A diverse group from Rosario and Córdoba, Argentina and Chile gathered for ifPeople's Intermediary Plone Training at the Universidad Nacional de Córdoba. Instructors included a range of experts from ifPeople's FairSource teams in Argentina and Chile who led the attendees through learning experiences about in-depth technical and programming topics, best practices in team development and production processes, and the new Plone 2.1 (see program).

The training, organized locally by FairSource partners Menttes, Except, and AMG, this represents one of the first advanced trainings on Plone in Argentina. As the developer community grows and connect through activities such as those promoted by ifPeople, greater opportunities for local user groups and local collaboration exist. ifPeople promoted team building in the training to contribute to the collaborative spirit of the Free Software movement. Participants dinned together and also shared an “asado”, an Argentine tradition like a bar-b-q.

This training was part of ifPeople's FairSource program, which helps emerging microenterprise IT companies secure work in Free Software technologies, improve management and grow, incorporate socially and environmentally responsible practices, and develop longterm partnerships for just trade in services.

The training materials, tutorials, and presentations from the course will soon be available online at www.ifpeople.net.
