Vol. 4, No. 1

Dear friends,

After a loooooong time, we are finally back to working regularly on our information sharing here. We have a lot of catching up to do and are really excited about what we are sharing these days. In this newsletter, we share our knowledge on online collaboration, news of open source web products we just published, and new client site launches. We are also launching into a process to overhauling the "Learn" section of our web site, so stay tuned for more great things to share over the summer. We are also pleased to welcome our first Office Manager to the team, who is helping all this sharing happen!

Thanks for your support as we emerge from radio silence! As always, please send us your comments or feedback.

Best wishes,

Chris and Tirza

_____ifPeople presents "social sourcing" at Plone Symposium NOLA

ifPeople's cofounder Christopher Johnson addressed the Plone Symposium in New Orleans (June 4, 2008) on fostering a collaborative open source community. The model, which was developed for leading the GetPaid for Plone project, combines an entrepreneurial spirit, collaborative design process, and facilitated communication with the traditional developer-led code-based work. _____Grab our reference guide to online collaboration!

For our presentation on online collaboration at the Pegasus conference, we packaged a large pack of materials as supplemental materials for the audience. It includes case studies, background, and a worksheet for planning your online collaboration/community. You can find the slides from the presentation and the supplemental materials at http://www.ifpeople.net/news/2007/online-collaboration-presentation-at-pegasus-conference/

_____Meet our new office manager!

Last month, we brought on a great new team player, Monica Waugh-Benton, to help us grow and run the business. Welcome to ifPeople! Read more about Monica at http://empresasustentable.com/news/2008/ifpeople-hired-an-office-manager/

_____ifPeople is Seeking New Team Members!

ifPeople is seeking motivated, organized, and optimistic individuals to be part of our team. Candidates should desire to work in an enterprise led by a fast-moving social entrepreneur in a work environment that fosters learning, leadership, and collaboration. Our team includes a distributed network of 20 people, with many located in South America that are part of FairSource (fair trade software development). We are seeking a Project Manager, CRM Database consultant, and FairSource Interns. Read more at http://ifpeople.net/about/work

_____ifPeople Announces Open Source Django Apps

ifPeople seeks to share the knowledge and tools it creates and sharing our software is one way to do that. In working with the Python-based Django platform, we have found that many small, useful bits are missing. This is our first rollout of generic Django apps to our Open Source repository. These apps will help make development more convenient by managing configurations and search query languages. Read more at: http://ifpeople.net/news/2008/ifpeople-open-source-django-apps/

_____Land Trust Alliance Launches a New Site with ifPeople

ifPeople is excited to announce the launch of a new web site for the Land Trust Alliance. The Land Trust Alliance works to save the places people love by strengthening land conservation across America. The new site features the ifDirectory, a new site infrastucture, and dynamic content that helps users find exactly what they are looking for while keeping the site fresh and engaging.

_____Check out our latest sites

We have been busy...and that's most of the reason for so few updates lately. Recently we added several of our new sites to the Featured Sites section of our site: http://ifpeople.net/customers/customers/recent-featured-clients
