Towards Sustainable Product Design 9 and ifPeople's FairSource Model
The "Toward Sustainable Product Design 9" conference will be held 25-26 October 2004 at Bush Hotel Conference Centre, Farnham, Surrey, UK. ifPeople's President and co-founder Tirza Hollenhorst will present ifPeople's sustainability supply chain business model and standard as an example of sustainable business.
Global sustainable and responsible innovation will require the creation of more sustainable and responsible markets - and to achieve this will require multi-stakeholder actions, with a policy orientation focused on earlier stages of the product or service lifecycle. The event will analyse the problems, barriers and obstacles to new sustainable and responsible business models and will highlight opportunities. A unique feature will be The Living Laboratory that will showcase sustainable business, product, service and PSS concepts. Sustainable Innovation 04 will be about new thinking, different perspectives and will be a key learning experience.
ifPeople's president, Tirza Hollenhorst, will be presenting FairSource, ifPeople's approach to promoting sustainable livelihoods through trade in services. Her presentation will show how FairSource has enabled ifPeople to contribute to sustainability for its clients, its partners, and the company. This innovative supply chain initiative, recently presented at Stanford at the "Engineers for a Sustainable World" conference, is increasingly drawing attention as an innovative and promising model. Tirza will provide insight to how the business model and standard can be applied to other service commercial relationships.
