ifPeople Announces Atlanta Workshop on "The Business Case for Sustainability" for May 26, 2004

"The Business Case for Sustainability: Benefits to business, case studies, and strategies," May 26, 2004 from 9am till noon, in Atlanta, GA. An interactive workshop that will show how business can, and does, benefit from improving social and environmental impacts. The workshop will focus on case studies, practical strategies, and understanding benefits to business from taking sustainable environmental and social practices as an operational strategy.

A growing body of international research, experiences, and case studies is showing that pursuing sustainable business practices pays. Strong evidence points to improvements in brand value and reputation, business processes and operational efficiency, human capital, risk management, access to capital, shareholder value, and revenues as a result of incorporating sustainability into core business strategies. Environmental sustainability and social responsibility represents a societal challenge and an enormous business opportunity.

This interactive workshop will show how business can, and does, benefit from improving social and environmental impacts. The workshop will be led by ifPeople cofounders and will draw on audience participation.  Topics of the workshop include:

  • The next industrial revolution: the big picture

  • Key concepts for today's business leaders

  • The business case for improving social, ecological, and economic performance

  • Case studies (focusing on Small and Medium-sized enterprises)

  • Strategies for improving business performance and impacts

At ifPeople he has given workshops on incorporating sustainability in leading universities and business schools in Argentina, provided consulting in strategy and project support to one of the largest Latin American networks promoting Corporate Social Responsibility, and worked in business to implement sustainability and CSR programs.</font></font></font></p> <p style="margin-bottom: 0.1in; font-style: normal;"><font face="Arial, sans-serif"><font size="2"><b>Tirza Hollenhorst </b>is a scientist, writer, and business woman who has helped businesses identify opportunities in sustainability and covert them to reality. With a background in biology and environmental engineering, she combines analytical and systems thinking skills. In 1999, she was awarded a Janus Fellowship and carried out research in Egypt on sustainable water management. As ifPeople's President, she has provided coaching, writing and research.
