ifPeople's President and co-founder Tirza Hollenhorst will speak in the "Solutions for a Shrinking Planet" conference in Stanford, CA on October 2. She was invited to present ifPeople's business model as an example of sustainable business. The conference, the 2004 Engineers for a Sustainable World National Conference, will feature international participants and speakers in the three-day event.

Tirza Hollenhorst has been invited to present the FairSource model as an example of sustainable business, empowerment of business partners, and enterprise development in Latin America.  FairSource provides a model that leverages trade in services to enable sustainable development.  The model builds on the principles of Fair Trade, and is a means that ifPeople's experience in Latin America can be used to provide access to opportunity for technology professionals.  Tirza will speak on October 1, 2004.  You can contact her directly at tirzalyn (at) ifpeople.net.

The conference will showcase the best of the greater San Francisco Bay Area, providing participants with opportunities to learn from leaders in sustainable development and enterprise, to share ideas and network, and to build inspiration and motivation to facilitate activism in their home organizations and communities.  This three-day event will explore the theme of "Solutions for a Shrinking Planet," and workshops led by top scientists, product designers, community leaders, and social entrepreneurs will explore sub-topics in detail.

For more about the conference, which will be held September 30-October 2, please see the conference web site.
