Red Puentes, the international network of civil society organizations promoting Corporate Social Responsibility in Latin America, launches its new Web site, which includes an engaging and dynamic design, new content, and easier navigation.

Red Puentes, a voluntary association of civil society organizations from six countries, promotes a culture and practice of socially responsible business. The network's Web site is vital for its mission: it enables internal communication, as well as external tools for distributing information to stakeholders across Latin America.

The new site enables more effective communication with:
  • the easy-to-use graphical interface for adding content,
  • a more vibrant design and graphical interface,
  • forums for members,
  • new areas of content on the concepts of CSR in Latin America,
  • institutional profiles for the new Uruguayan members of the network, and
  • greater use of graphics throughout the site.
ifPeople implemented the new site with the Open Source content management system Plone, which provides a powerful foundation for growth and development. ifPeople worked on the usability of the site, provided custom tools and products programmed especially for Red Puentes, and is also developing Spanish-language documentation for training of the diverse members who will contribute content.

The primary responsibility of the Red Puentes network is the implementation of a project, which has the support of NOVIB and other Dutch institutions, during the period 2003-2006.  The project provides the opportunity for the member-countries to collaborate in achieving the following goals:

  • Achieve greater influence and participation of Civil Society Organizations from Latin America in CSR initiatives and projects, and in the processes of generating a culture of socially responsible practices in local and multinational companies.
  • Promote the network Red Puentes and its proposals; establish South-North relationships for cooperation of CSOs.
  • Foster the creation and exchange of specific knowledge, experience, and tools for CSR in each country.
  • Support CSOs in their CSR campaigns, lobbying, initiatives and processes.
  • Implement processes for collaborating with multinational corporations in the application of the OECD Guidelines and other CSR tools and monitoring practices.
