Plone: YouTube, FairSource Training (Sold Out), and Conference Success
The Plone open source software is a fast-growing and exciting community that spans the globe. The recent Plone conference in Seattle had over 350 attending from around the world for dozens of sessions of learning, connecting, and collaborating. Those sessions are now being edited and posted on YouTube, including an amazing presentation (for people of all backgrounds!) by Eben Moglen. As Plone continues to spread, more people are getting interested. This week, ifPeople is holding its third developer training in Argentina - and it is sold out! Read on for more on the exciting state of Plone and these events.
Plone Conference Grows
The annual international conference that brings together leaders and newcomers in the Plone community was a great success! Organized by OneNW, a non-profit technology organization in Seattle, the conference was the biggest and best yet, with four tracks of
learning and great representation for different users: education/universities, government, companies, and civil society. ifPeople's Chris Johnson participated in the event in October and also faciliated a "Birds of a Feather" session on ecommerce and presented work on a medical sciences database tool for Plone in a "Lightning Talk". Many of the conference materials are available online as presentations currently (and soon as videos). See http://plone.org/events/conferences/seattle-2006/presentations to download presentations.
