The "social sourcing" model was used to apply an entrepreneurial approach to open source software project organizing. The participative model, led by Christopher Johnson, engaged a wide base of users in an integrated design process. Now the project is taking off on its own, which over 30 contributors and now its first major release.

Already the product is being used in production, and ifPeople has launched four sites with GetPaid in production, including this site, and has two more in development. ifPeople has sponsored development of four of the top 10 contributors to the project and also the participation of its cofounder, Christopher, as project orchestrator.

GetPaid, which enables online payment processing and ecommerce, is an add-on product for Plone. It works on both Plone 2.5 and 3.0 and can be downloaded here or built with the buildout tool. Users of your site will have a seamless payment experience when they pay with credit card.

Additional work is already being organized by the product community, including advanced store functionalities and a new round of improvements in the product itself.
