GetPaid Open Source Collaboration and Progress Update

Document Actions

GetPaid is a flexible framework for managing orders and processing credit cards for online payments in Plone. ifPeople has recently been part of a flurry of GetPaid activity, including launching two releases and a number of new sites.

The activity kicked off with the Plone Regional Symposium in New Orleans last month. Part of co-founder Christopher Johnson's approach to "social sourcing" the project emphasizes a collaborative design process that focuses on the value to the clients involved - and several people wanted to work on GetPaid on the occasion.

The collaboration in the GetPaid community has already produced concrete results:

ifPeople is currently working on integrating GetPaid with Salesforce.com.  The Salesforce.com Foundation donates licenses to non-profits for constituent tracking using its popular CRM tool and also funded an integration of Salesforce.com and Plone.  A new release of GetPaid will likely occur to support this functionality. Additionally, ifPeople cofounder Christopher Johnson is supporting the involvement of new leaders in the GetPaid community.

ifPeople is grateful for the ongoing support and vision of its clients who seek to contribute to open source projects like GetPaid in a way that benefits the entire community. ifPeople is proud to work on making this software valuable for:

  • Trees for Life, who uses GetPaid for a donation catalog and furthered interest in the PloneFormGen integration

  • Train of Thought Marketing and the ABB OrderLiterature.com web site

  • Natural Awakenings, who saw the value of integrating GetPaid with ifPeople's directory product to enable recurring billing.
