George Conard, director of the Mifos Initiative at the Grameen Foundation, will be speaking at O’Reilly OSCON (Open Source Convention) on Thursday, July 24.  His presentation,  Maximizing the Double Bottom Line: Open Source for Microfinance, will emphasize the importance of open source solutions in maintaining a solid technology infrastructure and standard technology solutions throughout the microfinance sector to seamlessly facilitate and expand the reach of programs targeted to reduce global poverty.  ifPeople has contributed to the Mifos initiative by creating a central web site with a collaborative communication platform that enables streamlined communication among developers, microfinance institutions (MFIs), and consultants.  Conard will recognize the challenges ahead for technology in supporting a global microfinance industry and outline plans for a new Mifos open source business model.  Click here to read more about ifPeople’s work with Mifos and view the site at Mifos.org.
