Climate Interactive to Present Simulation Models at the UN Climate Change Conference
ifPeople has the exciting opportunity to parter with Climate Interactive, an organization committed to helping the world understand the reality and future of climate change through interactive simulations ("Sims").
In December, Climate Interactive project leaders will be heading to a "post-Kyoto" UN Climate Meeting in Poznan, Poland.
A project of the Sustainability Institute, Climate Interactive is a not-for-profit organization of scientists, academics, and members of the business community who believe that society needs to take action now and make important decisions that will determine the long-term viability of life on earth.
In order to act in an informed and responsible way, business and government leaders need to have a deep, comprehensive, and solid understanding of the complex dynamics of climate change.
Climate Interactive's simulations, based on credible models developed by top university scientists, are oriented toward decision-makers and allow users to easily input various scenarios and immediately view the results of changes in atmospheric carbon levels and temperature.
Furthermore, Climate Interactive is fostering an open source community around its simulations to enable a broader community to create, extend, customize, and share simulations and learning environments. The community will be supported by a process and Web 2.0 platform designed by ifPeople.
ifPeople co-founders Christopher Johnson and Tirza Hollenhorst contribute to the team by providing consultation on online collaboration, applying open source approaches in the context of social change, and Web 2.0 functionality. We will keep you updated on the progress of the project and our role in it.
