Training: Open Source Content Management
Does visiting your website give you flashbacks to the 90s? Keeping content fresh on your website is vital to getting people to spend time on it and visit again. If you aren't able to do this yourself in a couple of minutes, it's time to consider a Content Management System (CMS) for your site.

Content Management Systems allow you to create, edit, and manage your site's content through a Web browser and without technical knowledge or programming. One of the best ways for nonprofits to get control of their website content is to consider Open Source technologies, that have become widely used and robust. Open Source technologies also carry no license fees, so you spend money only on customizations you want. This workshop will cover the advantages to Open Source and CMSs, demonstrate the basics of using a CMS (including adding and editing content, creating links, adding photos, news and events), and provide suggestions for technologies. We will also cover how to know if you are ready for a content management system, what to expect when hiring a consultant to implement a CMS vs doing it in house, evaluating total cost of ownership, and creating an RFP.
