ifPeople launches sites for Self-Help and Partners for Democratic Change
ifPeople has launched two new partner sites, one for the Center for Community Self-Help and another for Partners for Democratic Change. The organizations faced different challenges, but with Plone we were able to meet these challenges and provide each organization the tools it needed to improve online outreach.
With offices in North Carolina, California, and Washington DC, The Center for Community Self-Help finances real estate projects in communities traditionally ignored by conventional markets. The center not only helps with home and small business lending, they also do lending for community facilities like schools and daycare centers. In 2006, we worked with Self-Help to create a new website that the staff could control the content on for the first time. For this new version of the site, we upgraded the website to use Plone 3.2. Their newly launched site has several tools previously unavailable for Plone users, such as an improved content editor, content staging, search indexing for Word and PDF docs, in addition to generally improved performance.

Partners for Democratic Change is a
nonprofit that teaches conflict management skills, facilitates
resolution of disputes, and empowers citizens to participate in local
and national politics. The organization operates globally, from the
United States to Latin America to Africa. Recently, Partners helped end
a land dispute in Puerto Igauzu, Argentina, by helping native people
take political action. For Partners, we created a dynamic website that
communicates their message to the rest of the world. Thanks to Plone,
staff can update their site from anywhere their mission takes them.
