Manage Customized Fields
The network administrator is able to customize as many fields as he/she needs to store extra information per business (usually text info).
This can be done through the directory setup page (accessible from the personal bar). The Manage Customized Fields link (in Directory Configuration box) will lead you to a page for adding or editing existent customized fields. In that page there will be a table showing all existent customized fields, and at the bottom a link Add a customized field that leads you to a form for creating a new customized field.
In the form you will find:
- An input text for the Label of the new field (this label is the one that will be shown in listing/searches, according to the flags that you'd set. See next item).
- A set of four checkboxes for the flags Visible, Editable, In sign up form, and Searchable, where:
- Visible, if set, indicates that the content of the field will be displayed in listing information. If combined with Searchable, the field's label will be displayed in simple search form (through a checkbox) to limit the search results (off course, this will be enabled only when this last flag is set).
- Editable, if set, indicates that the content of the field can be edited by both administrator and business' owner of the info. If not set, only the network's manager can edit it.
- In sign up form, If the former two flags has been set up, you can set this flag to show your customized field in the form that shows up when a user is attempting to sign up to the directory. If you click on the checkbox a new one will appear just beside it with the word “Required”. This is for telling if this will be a requisite to the sign up process, or just optional data.
- Searchable, if set, indicates that the content of the field will be boolean-like value, and combined with Editable flag can or can not be set by the business' owner of the info.
You also have two drop down boxes that let you choose the field type (image, dropdown, checkbox or multiselect) and the display type.
Finally, you have another checkbox that lets you determine if the field will have a maximum size. When checked, a new box appears to let you introduce a number (the number of characters expected as limit)
Each existent customized field can be edited for changing it's label or flags clicking on the Edit link in the table, which will lead you to a form very similar to the previous one.
Note: once created, customized fields can not be deleted. For hiding a not used any more customized field you can unset it's flags.
