Map Setup

In order to have the directory map working there are a list of properties that must be edited by the directory admin.

To do so, from directory setup, click on Edit directory map properties link (in Map box), and fill in the following properties:

map_lat

the default latitude where the map is going to be displayed

map_long

the default longitude where the map is going to be displayed (must be a negative number for west longitudes)

map_zoom

the default zoom with the map is going to be displayed. Smaller numbers zooms in the map.

map_google_key

the key value obtained from http://www.google.com/apis/maps/signup.html

For obtaining the map_google_key you should go to the url provided above, and ask for a key for directory_url/map/. That key will enable the map to be viewed only using the directory_url you provided.

If you don't know what to put in the map_lat and map_long fields maybe you can take a look at here. This information can not be precise enough, but you can start with those values and the adjust as necessary.

If the map_google_key property is not set, there will be not links map search results or view business in the map. If the map_google_key property is set but with a not proper value, the map will not be visible.

Important Note: If you set the map key or change the zoom value for the map, you will need to update the site catalog. The catalog is used for processing searches, so if it's not up to date it may show wrong search results. For doing so, just click on the update catalog button and wait until it finish. Please be patient, this update could take several minutes.
