Request Listing

Overview of how to become a member, including the forms for individual or business memberships.

The "Sign Up" process involves filling up a three-page form for businesses, and a two-page form for individuals. This form can be accessed from the application index, clicking on "register".

Below, a short description of what each field means (fields in bold means that it is required):

Warning: be careful, the names of fields may vary, since they can be set in each directory. You can see this screenshoot for identifying where to look for some fields. Also, have in mind that in some special cases, directories can directly omit some field of the registration form.

First Page: Registration

  • Registration type: A dropdown with possible business/individual memberships.

Second Page

if Business membership was chosen

Contact Info

  • A dropdown with available salutation: Dr., Mr., Ms., Mrs..
  • First Name: contact's first name.
  • Middle Name: contact's middle name.
  • Last Name: contact's last name.
  • Position in the company (title): contact's position in the company requesting listing.

if Individual membership was chosen

Contact Info

  • same as for Business.

Other Info

  • User Name: the username to login to site.
  • Password: a six or more character string.
  • Phone: a ten digit phone number (For example, 5551112233). Any character string for world wide directories.
  • Fax: a ten digit fax number (For example, 5551112233). Any character string for world wide directories.
  • E-mail: the person's email (Lowercase characters only).

Location Info

  • Address: Street name and number. Do not leave out of street name "St," "Rd," "Blvd,". Required field.
  • Apt.: suite/apt. information.
  • City: person's city.
  • State: dropdown to pick person's state. Any character string for world wide directories (outside US).
  • Zip Code: person's zipcode (5-digit format for US networks, ANA NAN format for Canadian networks).
  • Country: Only on world wide directories. Selecting US some other fields (like State) will have the same restrictions than in a US directory.

Third Page (only for Businesses):

Company Info

  • Company Name: company's name.
  • Description of Business: piece of text describing the business' activities, which will be used in searchs. Directory administrator can put a limit to the length of this field, if so, you will se a character counter next to the input text.
  • Industries: list of possible possible company's industries. Beside each industry you will find a checkbox. Mark it for select an industry. You can select as many industries as you want. If you see [+] next to some industry name, clicking on it you will see an extra list of sub-industries (below the one with the [+] symbol). Note: some administrators may had customized the form to opening all sub-industries by default, so you will see this symbol instead [-].
  • Product/Service: multiple select for company's products/services provided. The requesting user can choose more than one using the CTRL key in and the mouse in the dropdown.
  • Product/Service Description: piece of text describing the products/services.
  • Web Site: company's web site. Do not include the protocol prefix (http://)

Other Info

  • Same as for Individuals, but for company data.

Location Info

  • Same as for Individuals, but for company data.

After this three-page form is completed and submitted, the user will get a result message. Either this message shows a successful result saying that the request will be sent to the administrator/s (please refer to Admin's account and email setup and to SMTP's host setup to ensure this process works ok) or the message will show the reason of failure so the requesting user is able to complete/correct the missing/wrong information pressing the Back button.

The request for sign up creates a new entry either for business or for individual, plus a login account at the moment the form is successfully submitted, but it is private (hidden, only the Admin can see it). If the Admin approves the request, it becomes public. If the Admin rejects the request, the new entry and the login account are deleted.
